Jalandhar 20 February (Jaswinder Azad)- Dr. Suresh Kumar Khurana, head of the Department of Economics, DAV College, Jalandhar joined the Jammu University as a Resource Person in the National Conference with the support of ICSSR and CVPP. In this conference, he presented his research paper- Natural Resource Management and Development in Himachal: Issues. During this session Dr. Khurana bestowed his thoughts while providing information about Himachal he told Himachal is the longest mountain, It is 2400 kilometers long and it spreads in 8 countries including Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, China, Afghanistan, Bhutan etc. He said that there are 14 high hills on the Himalaya Mountains, length is 800 meters. He said that Himalaya is in 12 states in India and 600 million people are dependent on the items here for their livelihood. He said that there is mostly poverty, and low level lifestyle, due to which there is problem of unemployment in Himalayan states. If there is development in places like Himachal, then there is a need for micro level planning.
Not only this, Dr. Khurana was also specifically invited by the Jammu University for panel discussion. During which he manifested his ideas in conjunction with all the teachers. On this occasion, he said that mining and solid waste industries should be curb in Himalayan region. Due to these, conditions of industries the rate of floods in Uttarakhand increased. The Red Industry has spoiled the air, solid Waste has spread the dust . By which the water is also being contaminated. Dr Suresh Khurana was honored by Dr. Falendar Sudan and Dr. Balwinder Singh, head of the Department of Economics at Jammu University.
At the same time, DAV College's Principal Dr. SK Arora expressed his gratitude on this occasion and congratulated Dr. Khurana for his achievement. He also congratulated for completion of 100 years of college. He said that the Devi College has been an advance institution in education sector for the last 100 years due to its pragmatic professors. Even in future, college professors will continue to set such dimensions in the field of education.
