Fitness @ IT organized in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 28 February (Gurkirat Singh)- With the aim of promoting good health and interest for sports, PG Department of Computer Science & IT organized annual sports events ‘Fitness @ IT’. In this event 295 students from seven different of the department i.e. Sigma, Gopher, Abacus, Omega, Chrome, Turing & Zigbee participated in various competitions like 100 meters race, shot-put, sack race, long jump, three leg race, lemon race etc. Besides this, tug of war and musical chair competitions were organized for staff members. Sardarni Balbir kaur, President, College Management committee was the chief guest for the event accompanied by special guests S. Jaspal Singh Wraich, (Chief Secretary, Governing Council) & S. Swaran Singh Cheema,( Member, Governing Council) and Kamal Kunj, DGM, Retail Sales, Indian Oil Corporation. Principal Dr. G.S.Samra and Dean Administration & Head of Department Dr. Manohar Singh extended floral welcome to the chief guest. Welcoming the guests, Dr. Manohar Singh briefed about the achievements of the department. Sardarni Balbir Kaur praised the efforts of the department. She motivated the students to ensure more participation in sports activities and to make the nation proud. Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Principal, Lyallpur Khalsa College advised the students to make exercise and a balanced diet a daily routine for the fitness. He also mentioned about the achievements of the college related to sports. Winning maximum position in various competitions, Zigbee and Omega house won the overall trophy whereas Sigma and Gopher remain second and third respectively. Dr. Manohar Singh presented vote of thanks. The interesting and enthralling commentary of the event was well managed by Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Anand and Prof. Karamjit Kaur. Prof. Sandeep Bassi, Dr. Baldev Singh, Prof. Manpreet Singh, Prof. Sandeep Singh, Prof. Mandeep Bhatia and Prof. Gagandeep Singh were also present.
