Jalandhar 15 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Commerce Forum organised a One Day Student Development Program for final year students of B.com and BBA. This workshop was on the topic "Enhancing Employability Skills of the students". Employers are often looking for the skills that go beyond qualifications and experience. Employability is not just about skills, its also about caabilities or competancies: aptitude, attitude and behaviour. The guest speaker was Dr. Tavleen Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Human Resouce, IBS Gurgaon. Vice Principal and HOD Prof. VK Sareen welcomed the guests. He said that such worshops are very helpful to the students in Enhancing their abilities. She has explained the importance of having employability skills while going for an interview. One should possess such skills in spite of educational qualifications. She discussed various skills like Positive Attitude, Teamwork, Interpersonal Skills. Work Ethics, Communication and Self Motivation. Also, she differentiated between soft skills and hard skills required for the job and stressed on soft skills having more weightage than hard skills. It was a interactive session. President Commerce Forum Prof. Ekjot Kaur said that education and experience may you eligible to apply for a job but to be successful in the role you will need to exhibit a mix of skills which are called employability skills. Both professional and general skills can lead to a successful job life.
