Jalandhar 21 June (Jaswinder Azad)- The International Yoga Day and World Music Day were observed on the premises of CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus. The heads, teaching and non-teaching members of various departments participated in the event. Various asanaas were performed and the benefits of yoga were also told to the participants. Dr Pravin Kumar (Head of the department of Physical Education) exhorted everyone to adopt yoga and music as a way of life. At the event, the members of CT Music Society including our national and international students gave LIVE musical performance.
This day has been specially selected as World Yoga Day and World Music Day to spread harmony and peace worldwide. Dr. Pravin Kumar said, “CT Group of Institutions has been organizing Yoga workshops regularly for the students from time to time. We believe in preserving the age-tested ever-useful traditions and cultural heritage of India. Celebrating Yoga and Music are invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition with great enthusiasm and in large numbers people of their fraternity. Practicing the yoga postures on the music tunes is so much fun and everybody practiced with full zeal and enthusiasm.” On the day, hundreds of volunteers practiced various yoga postures- Sadilaya, trunk movements, knee movements, yogasanas like Tadasana, Vkrasana, PadamAasana etc. Kapalbhati and Pranayams like AnulomeVilome Pranayama. It included with a SubhSankalpa and Shanti Patha.
Sadhvi Om Prabha Bharti from BhartiyaYogSansthan participated as Chief Resource person. She addressed the gathering on ‘Yoga for Health and Happiness’ topic. She stated that it is universally accepted that regular practice of Yoga has very positive implications for human health. She exhorted everyone to adopt a yogic way of life and work for the protection of a healthy environment and a balanced way of living.
The faculty members expressed that practicing yoga leads to an increased feeling of well-being, which helps explain why so many people find yoga so addictive. The refreshment was also served to the volunteers after the yoga session.
S. Charanjit Singh Channi asserting that India, through yoga and music, seek completeness and at the same time a oneness with the world, he said all everyone across the world are ambassadors of Yoga, taking India’s message out to the world. He said, “Yoga is much more than physical exercise, doing it with Music is a great fun that involves a lot of health benefits as well. It enables us to access a new dimension of our self. Even while providing a holistic approach to preventive health care, yoga helps us to restore balance and furnishes us with a much need sense of clarity.” He thanked everyone for their enthusiasm and support to celebrate the ancient Indian discipline, adding that Yoga was so much more than just physical exercise and that it helped in achieving a sense of clarity.
