9 Veer Naaris honoured
Jalandhar 9 March (Jaswinder Azad)- To honour the essence of empowered womanhood, the Heritage and Autonomous Institution –Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized a special event 'The Real Strength Behind Heroes' under the aegis of Women Studies Centre. To commemorate the laudable role of the brave wives of the soldiers who have shown their true mettle by standing undauntedly in the face of Supreme sacrifices made by their husbands in Indian Army and to salute their spirit, Nine veer naaris (the wives of martyrs) Kamlesh Kaur, Rajinder Kaur, Harbans Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Gyan Kaur, Inderjit Kaur, Tersem Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Bimal Kaur were honoured with veer Nari Award. It is worth mentioning that KMV is the first institution in Jalandhar to honour the veer naaris of the martyrs and the trend is in practice since last year. Another Category of awards, KMV Anujivi Samaan celebrates the spirit of women from economically disadvantaged section to empower themselves with various skills for attaining self-reliance. Two women enrolled under Gandhian Studies Centre were awarded with KMV Anujivi Samman for realizing their goal of becoming self-employed after the completion of their cosmetology course under Gandhian Studies Centre. To honour meritorious achievements of the college students in various categories, KMV Stars in the Making Awards were also given away. The achievers in this section Ms. Navpreet for winning the title of Ms. Punjab in Famina Ms. India 2017 and being one of top 5 finalists in Femina Miss India 2016, NCC Cadet Ms. Ranjana for winning various competitions at national Level, Ms Vijeta for being selected to attend a 3 week course at Boston University under Student Exchange Programme, Ms. Sukhmanpreet and Ms. Kamalpreet (both students of Animation Course) for rendering their services in Bollywood and Hollywood Film Industry and Video Editing in Doordarshan respectively.
The college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi reiterated her commitment to work tirelessly for achieving the mission and vision of the Vidyalaya by offering ample financial aid in the form of fee concession & scholarships to the needy and meritorious and the rich legacy of this iconic Institution carry forward. She also appreciated the efforts of Mrs. Amarpreet Khurana, Mrs. Seema Jain, Dr. Madhumeet, Dr. Vinod Kalra and Dr. Gurjot.
