Jalandhar 16 March (Jaswinder Azad)- A special program was organized by the PG Department of Mathematics, Lyallpur Khalsa College today as a part of National Mathematics Day Celebrations. The program comprised of competitions based on Quiz, Debate, Poster Presentation, Rangoli, Model and Power Point Presentations. Eminent Mathematician Dr. R.R. Sinha was the Chief Guest of the occasion and he was duly welcomed to the college with a bouquet of flowers by Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra along with Dr. Santokh Singh, Head of the College Mathematics Department. Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. R.R. Sinha discussed the potential of Mathematics in the modern age of science and technology, adding that there was a need to encourage advanced research in Mathematics so as to take full benefit of the discipline. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, also spoke about the various techniques of Mathematics based on his teaching of the subject and also added that the college has produced various teachers in the same subject both at National and International level. The program saw participation of 250 students from 15 colleges of the region. The victorious students in the various competitions were honoured by Dr. R.R. Sinha, Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr. Santokh Singh. The stage was conducted by Prof. Palwinder Singh Bolina. The occasion was also marked by the participation of Dr. Harjit Singh, Dr. Dinkar Sharma, Prof. Sukhbir Kaur, Prof. Pooja Sonik, Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Prof. Banita Thakur, Prof. Hargun Shergill and Prof. Gurpriya Waraich.
