THE NATIONAL-LEVEL ANNUAL TECHFEST ADAVitya18 INAUGUARTED AT DAVIET

Jalandhar 22 March (Jaswinder Azad)- The aDAVitya18 was inaugurated today at the DAVIET campus with a great deal of fanfare. The tech fest, which is a regular feature, aims at providing a platform for the budding technocrats to showcase their talent. aDAVitya18 is a mega fest in which more than 140 events are being organized to provide maximum exposure to students. The theme of the tech fest stresses upon the following vital issues: To sow Technology that could change the course of mankind; to strengthen our Society and, to ensure sustainability by means of technology. aDAVitya is one of the most awaited College Fests that attracts students from the length and breadth of North India.
The Convener of the Tech-Fest Dr. Kanchan L. Singh welcomed the revered Guests and other participants to the Tech-Fest and hoped that the tech fest will live up to its potential and participants will gain a lot. She shared that  around 3000 students have already registered from some of the leading institutions like Panjab University Chandigarh, Punjabi University Patiala, Thapar University Patiala, PEC Chandigarh, GNDEC, Ludhiana to name a few.
Principal Manoj Kumar stated that through the Tech-Fest, it is aimed that the  professionals from industry, scholars from academia and budding technocrats can interact with each other and can generate invaluable intellectual wealth which helps in pushing the boundaries of  science and scholarship. Professor Manoj stressed that the Institute envisages this mega event with holistic outlook and that is why it hosts about 70 technical and 70 non-technical events including four galleries―a visual treat for the art lovers. Seen thus, the tech-fest shall be a potent platform to hone the talent of the youth and shall build the vibrant networks of communication between the students representing different institutions/states.  
The major highlight of the tech-fest was the presence of Sh. Raj Kumar Chaudhary, IAS, Commissioner (Jalandhar Division). Sh. Chaudhary applauded the committed efforts of the team DAVIET for organizing such a grand National Level Tech-fest.  He declared that it’s an event by the students, of the students and for the students. He stressed that innovation-led technology is the only way to transform our nation and that is why it is extremely important to take technology to the grass-root level. It is in this context that he congratulated DAVIET for choosing such an appropriate theme of the tech-fest. He also motivated the youth to make most of their intellectual acumen and nurture, and cultivate their inner flame for over-all development of the country.
Another major highlight was a TechTalk (DAVIETian version of TedEx Talks) of the tech-fest which witnessed the presence of Sh. P.K. Sinha, IPS, Commissioner of Police. Sh. Sinha. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Sinha shared his journey of life and thus motivated the elite gathering. Specifically, he   spoke on Leadership. Addressing the audience, he stressed that ‘tomorrow’ belongs to the youth of India. Accordingly, it is of great significance that leadership be nurtured amongst youth so that they can contribute their share to the national development. He stressed and elaborated on the four pillars of leadership that include: Leading Self, Leading Others, Integrity and People First Approach alongwith the qualities like self-awareness, team management, clarity of thought and well-groomed emotional quotient. He emphasized the need to strike a balance between IQ and EQ and thus implored the Academia to take it as priority area.
The major events of the tech-fest include RoboWar, Lord of Code, IT Quiz, LAN Gaming, Seismic Straw, CAR Soccer, Business Master, Project Display, Art Galleries and the Super Event i.e. Star Night which shall witness the performance of Renowned Punjabi Singer MANKIRAT AULAKH. A Mega Event Mock United Nations (DAVMUN) shall also be organized. The other events to be organized during the two day tech fest include Battle of Bands, Walk of Thinkers, Placement Simulator,  Mr. & Ms. Tech, Group Dance Battle etc.
The event was attended by Sh. Arvind Ghai, Secretary DAVCMC, New Delhi, Mr. A.K Sharma, District Session Judge retired, Member, DAVCMC, Principal DAV College Jalandhar, Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Member, DAVCMC, Dr. Sonia Chawla, Dean Academics, Dr. Anil Soni, Dean Students Affairs, Dr. Sudhir Sharma, Dean Research and Innovation, Dr. Neeru Malhotra, Head Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Ms. Harpreet Bajaj, Head Department of Computer Science and Technology, Mr. Parveen Kakkar, Head Department of Computer Applications, Dr. Kanchan L Singh, Head Department of Applied Sciences  and faculty and staff of the institution.
