Jalandhar 29 April (Jaswinder Azad)- A farewell function ‘Rukhsat 2018’ was organized in the premises of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya with great zeal and enthusiasm. Concealing their mixed feelings under the veil of shimmering and glittering looks, students of postgraduate classes of all faculties attended the farewell party. The function began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Principal Prof. Dr.(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur, Dean Academics, Mrs. Binoo Gupta, Associate Prof. in Commerce, Mrs. Navroop, Dean Youth Weflare, Mrs. Kuljit Kaur Athwal, Dean Holistic Growth, Miss Shallu Batra, Dean Students Support Services, Mrs. Gagandeep, HOD Mathematics, Mrs. Sangeeta Bhandari, Associate Prof. in Computer Science, Mrs. Veena Arora, Co-Dean Youth Welfare. The Principal was given a floral welcome.
The students presented a very enthralling cultural programme in honour of the outgoing classes in the form of singing and dance performances. Various games were also played to add more fun and laughter to the function. The most distinguished event of the day, modelling was judged by Mrs. Meenu Kohli, Associate Prof. in Commerce, Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Associate Prof. in Physics, Miss Sonia Mahendru, Asstt. Prof. in Computer Science.
The traditional Vidya Jyoti was handed over to the juniors as a mark of responsibility that they are to shoulder in their absence. A vote of thanks was given by Ms. Gurpal Kaur, PG Headgirl for being motivated and guided by the institution. She thanked the teaching faculty for inspiring and for being their torch bearers. She also thanked the Students Council team for their support.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen addressed the students and boosted their morale to aspire high goals. She ensured the students their success and high future prospects for being a part of one of the renowned institution under DAV College Managing Committee. She also applauded the faculty members for inculcating the leadership quality among students.
Different titles were awarded to the students. Title of Ms. Ethnic was won by Arshpreet Kaur and that of Ms. Technie by Ms. Anisha Verma, Ms. Priya and Ms. Upasna Seth were declared as Ms. HMV First Runner up and second runner up respectively. The title of Ms. Gravity was bestowed upon Ms. Shivani Sharma, Ms. Harpreet Kaur won the title of Ms. Creative. The title of Ms. Dancing Doll and Ms. Professional were bestowed upon Ms. Ashipika and Ms. Harneet Kaur. Finally Ms. Gurpal was crowned with the title of Miss HMV. The stage was conducted by our students Ms. Ritu and Ms. Gulfam.

Ms. Priya Kapoor, a source of inspiration for HMV students
Ms. Priya Kapoor, a student of Postgraduate Diploma in Garment and Construction (Fashion Designing), won the title of First Runner up in the farewell function Rukhsat 2018 organized at HMV. A mother of 12 year old girl and a 8 year old boy, Ms. Priya resumed her studies after a gap of fourteen years. Getting married at a very young age, she had to discontinue her studies. Her mother-in-law became the spirit of motivation and encouragement for her and gave wings to her dreams. Making the institution as well as proud she scored 91% in the first semester. Her teacher Mrs. Cheena Gupta praised her for being committed to studies. Principal Prof. Dr. Ajay Sareen blessed her for her bright future. She has set for benchmark for women’s education.
