Jalandhar 26 April (Jaswinder Azad)- PG Department of Commerce and Management of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya inaugurated a one week National Faculty Development Programme on ‘ICT enabled Teaching in Commerce and Economics’. The chief guest was C.A. Y.K. Sud, Member of Local Committee, HMV. The programme inaugurated with lighting the lamp and DAV Gaan. College Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and Dean Academics and HOD Commerce Dr. (Mrs.) Kanwaldeep Kaur accorded a green welcome to the chief guest. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that there is a need to be updated with the things happening in the world and same is in the case of teaching. This FDP will help to bring such changes and will enrich teaching experience. She appreciated the efforts of the department and encouraged them to conduct such programmes in future as well. Convener of the programme Dr. (Mrs.) Kanwaldeep Kaur introduced FDP to the participated and said that it will enrich the faculty with various ICT related to Commerce and Economics – GST, e-filing, SPSS and Tally. She assured that the faculty members will get valuable inputs and it will lead to effective teaching. She also shared the achievements of the college and Commerce department. CA Y.K. Sud gave keynote address at inaugural session. He said that learning comes only with practice. He said that various laws undergoes change every year and there is a need to learn and adopt that changes like GST percentage on various goods and services. He shared his views on GST law and discussed its implementation, tax slabs, returns and the benefits of GST to businessman and common man.
In session II, the resource person was CA Piyush Bansal. Mrs. Meenu Kundra, Associate Prof. in Commerce formally introduced the resource person. He discussed the past and present indirect tax structure, features of GST, concept of supply, registration and other basic concepts of GST. In Session III, ‘E-filing of GST’ was the topic. The resource person, CA Piyush Bansal, showed the steps to file the returns under GST on portal of GST. Organizing Secretary Mrs. Binoo Gupta said that 50 faculty members from various colleges are participating in FDP. On this occasion, Mrs. Meenu Kohli, Dr. Seema Khanna, Ms. Shallu Batra, Mrs. Savita Mahendru, Dr. Meenakshi Duggal, Mrs. Yuvika were also present. Stage was conducted by Ms. Karishma, Asstt. Prof. in Commerce.
