HMV celebrated its Foundation Day

Jalandhar 7 April (Jaswinder Azad)- The 61st Foundation Day of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya was celebrated with full enthusiasm in its campus during special morning assembly.  The chief guest of the occasion was Mayor of Jalandhar Sh. Jagdish Raj Raja, Ex-Councillor Sh. Mohinder Singh Gullu. Local Committee members Sh. S.N. Mayor, Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal were also present.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.)Ajay Sareen welcomed the Chief Guest and told about the historical background of the institution.  She said that today is the 91st Birthday of our college as it was established in 1927 at Lahore.  She saluted all the Principals of the college who taught us to work hard in life.  She said that HMV is a part of DAV organization who always remain ahead in every field, be it social work or education.  She said that institution is not only made up of bricks and cement rather it is made up of its employees.  All the students and employees are like soul of the institution.  Today not only academic growth but holistic growth is important.  Moral values are equally important.  She said that DAV institutions are making continuous progress under the able leadership of Padmashri Dr. Punam Suri, President, DAVCMC, New Delhi.  She said that HMV is known for innovation and we have given so many national and international sportswomen and artists to the nation. 
Chief Guest Mayor Sh. Jagdish Raj Raja said that the growth and development of HMV is the result of hard work of Principal, staff and students.  He said that for flying high in life, confidence is required which is in abundance in the students of HMV.  He prayed to Almighty for the better future of the students.  Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur Athwal, Dean Holistic Development recited a self composed poem on the glorious journey of HMV. Head Girl of college Ms. Gurpal Kaur gave a speech on this occasion.  Under the able leadership of Dean Youth Welfare Mrs. Navroop Kaur, Dean Student Council Mrs. Urvashi Mishra and Head of Dance department Dr. Pooja Minhas, the students of HMV presented a choreography through which they depicted the main events organized by college in last one year.  A comedy show was also presented by Lovepreet, Lovejeet and Madhav from ‘Comedy in my DNAs-Laughing Gas Club’.  Coordinator of Morning Assembly was Dean Academics Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur and stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
On this occasion, Langar was also distributed at HMV Chowk by all the guests and staff members of the college.  At HMV Chowk, water splashes and millet for birds were also placed.  The students of Fine Arts department beautifully decorated HMV Chowk with their art work.
