Jalandhar 27 April (Jaswinder Azad)- The faculty and students of St. Soldier Law College today organized a seminar on the theme “Impeachment Motion against CJI and Chairman’s order”. The Pro- Chairman of the group Mr. Prince Chopra presided over the session. The college Director Dr.S.C.Sharma welcomed the Chief Guest and gave the background of the seminar. The teachers of the college including Simi Thind , Amrit pal Kaur, Balwinderjit Kaur, Inderjit kumar,Vinod Sharma, Rinka Rani, Aabha Sood, Kunal Aggarwal and Komal Mehta participated in the discussions.
The consensus of the seminarians was that in a country wedded to the rule of law where judiciary is the last ray of hope, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha should have accepted the motion because judicial opinion on the point is clearly divided and the allegations have come not only from the opposition but also the fellow colleagues in the Supreme Court. The Rajya Sabha Chairman may review his order or the Supreme Court within itself can find a solution which must be sufficient to satisfy the people of India, who are Sovereign and feel independence of judiciary (including transparency) as the most basic tenant of the Indian Democracy. Mr. Prince Chopra, the Chairman of the seminar appreciated the initiative of Law College and exhorted them to be the torch bearers of Indian Society.
