Two Day seminar was held at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 11 April (Jaswinder Azad)- A Two Day seminar was held at Lyallpur Khalsa College, by the Centre for Punjabi Culture and Folklore Studies, on the theme of ‘Bhagti Kaav’. Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, former Head, Department of Hindi, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar and Dr. Jasbir Singh, former Head of the Guru Nanak Centre for Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar were the chief guests for Day 1 while eminent literary personality S. Beant Singh Sarhaddi was the special guest on this occasion.  The dignitaries were welcomed to the college with bouquets by College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head, PG Department of Punjabi and Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, Director of the Centre for Punjabi Culture and Folklore Studies. Dr. Sekhon also informed about the purpose and the facets of this seminar spanning over two days. In his address, Dr. Jasbir Singh discussed various aspects of the hymns written by Bhagat Kabir ji while Dr. Harmohinder Singh spoke about the contribution of Bhagti Moment to Indian Culture and lifestyle. The theme of the seminar was also touched upon by Beant Singh Sarhaddi. Prof. Manjinder Singh Johal and Prof. Satnam Wahid also read out their respective research papers on this occasion. Principal Dr. GS Samra lauded the efforts behind this seminar which he hoped would provide some fresh aspects of this important literary genre. Vote of thanks was put forth by Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar while the stage was managed by Dr. Surinderpal Mand. The occasion was also witnessed by S. Bachan Singh, Sri Rajinder Bimal and the entire faculty of the Department of Punjabi.
