Jalandhar 31 May (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous & Heritage Institution, the Heritage Memorial has been set up as a tribute to 133 years of glorious existence and service to humanity. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KMV averred that KMV had the proud honour of being bestowed the Heritage Status by Govt. of India in 2016. It was one of 19 institutions in India and the first and only women institution in Punjab to be awarded this prestigious status. The Heritage Memorial had started under this Heritage status. The Memorial comprises an exquisitely, delicately & flawlessly carved statue of Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom Surrounded by fountains it adds to the beauty and serenity of this beautiful and pristine temple of learning-KMV. With the setting up of the Heritage Memorial, the whole ambience seems to be abounding with the fragrant benedictions of Goddess Saraswati who is symbolic of women education and empowerment. Suresh Seth were present at this moment.This Heritage Memorial marking the 133rd glorious year of KMV’s service to the noble cause of women empowerment and education becomes all the more relevant and significant at this juncture as it is a year when KMV the historical institution has created history yet again by becoming the first women Autonomous institution of Punjab. KMV has entered higher league of institutions under autonomous status with the syllabi of all courses have been upgraded with 21st century Skill component. 17 New courses have also been introduced which will start from the new session. Under autonomy, Value-added programmes for students holistic development have been incorporated in the syllabus, the grades of which will be added in the detail marks of students. Divine blessings, at this juncture, when KMV is blazing the trail and touching new horizons are very heartening.
