Jalandhar 2 May (Jaswinder Azad)- PG Department of Commerce and Management of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a Seven day International Faculty Development Programme on ICT enabled Teaching in Commerce and Economics. The valedictory session started with DAV Gaan. The chief guest was Mr. Prem Ratan Sharma, Associate Chartered Accountant from UK. FDP Convener Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur welcomed the guests and presented a report on FDP. She said that participants had got valuable inputs and it will enrich their teaching experience. Mrs. Alka, Mrs. Priya, Mrs. Isha and Mrs. Rashmi shared their experience of FDP. Earlier in the day, during first session, resource person was Prof. Gurjeet Kaur from University of Jammu. Her topic was ‘Correlation using SPSS’. She said that correlation technique helps to know the direction and magnitude between two or more variables. Her second session was on the topic ‘Regression using SPSS’. She also gave practical assignments to participants to solve on SPSS software. The resource person for third session was Mr. Prem Ratan Sharma, ACCA from U.K. His topic was client accounting. He discussed about the procedure of sale and purchase of property and the software i.e. docusign.
Earlier on Day 2, the resource persons were CA Puneet Oberoi, CA Ashwani Jindal and CA Sonia Arora. CA Ashwani Jindal discussed tax implication for different kind of persons defined under Income Tax Law. He also discussed the effect of union budget on income tax law every year. CA Sonia Arora showed the steps to file an online application for obtaining PAN Card, Registration for E-filing and filing of returns. CA Puneet Oberoi discussed the eligibility and conditions of taking input tax credit and restrictions on ITC. He also discussed how the ITC can be claimed and availed. On Day 3, the resource persons were Mr. Manjeet and Mr. Sankar Sarkar, Master trainers of Tally. Mr. Manjeet introduced Tally software to the participants and said that it is itself a valuable software which keeps record of accounting, inventory, payroll and GST compliance. Mr. Sankar Sarkar practically showed the steps to create a company and create, alter and delete ledgers. He also discussed the steps to open Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Account, Cash Flow, Fund Flow and Ratio Analysis.
On Day 4, the resource persons were Dr. Vishal Sareen, Associate Professor LPU, Ms. Shallu Batra, Asstt. Professor, HMV and Ms. Mandeep Gujral, FCS, Advocate and IP. Miss Shallu Batra gave introduction of SPSS to the participants. She discussed the types of variables, measures of data and selection of technique for data by giving various examples. Dr. Vishal Sareen discussed the topic ‘Hypothesis testing' using SPSS (t-test and ANOVA). He showed the steps to be performed on one sample t-test, independent sample t-test and paired t-test. Mrs. Mandeep Gujral discussed about the corporate insolvency, its resolution process and the regulating law. She also told about how to file an application for the debt recovery purpose.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts of the department. This FDP was attended by 50 participants of various colleges. Certificates were awarded to all the participants. Vote of thanks was given by Organizing Secretary Mrs. Binoo Gupta. On this occasion, Head of department Dr. Kanwaldeep, Mrs. Meenu Kohli, Mrs. Binoo Gupta, Dr. Seema Khanna, Mrs. Meenu Kundra, Miss Shallu Batra, Mrs. Savita Mahendru, Dr. Minakshi Duggal,Mrs. Yuvika and other faculty members were present.
