PPCB AND TRAFFIC POLICE CHALLANS EIGHT VEHICLES FOR CREATING NOISE POLLUTION UNDER ‘TANDARUST PUNJAB’ MISSION

Jalandhar 19 June (Jaswinder Azad)- Continuing its drive to check noise pollution in the district under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’, a joint team of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and traffic Police Jalandhar today conducted a special drive for checking use of multi-tone horns/ pressure horns on vehicles and cracker sound emitting silencer on motor cycles.
Team comprising Assistant Environmental Engineer (AEE) Mr. Jatinder Kumar and Mr. Varun Kumar JEE along with the team of traffic Police led by Assistant Sub Inspector Traffic Police (ASI) Mr. Jaswant Singh checked around 35 vehicles including Heavy vehicles and Motor cycles at the Nakodar Chowk. On the occasion one heavy vehicle and seven Royal Enfield Bullet Motor cycle were issued challan for the violation of the noise pollution rules.
The team appealed the owners of heavy and light vehicles to stop using pressure horns in their vehicles as it causes lot of noise pollution. They said that strict action would be taken against the erring vehicles owners who were found violating laws.
