JALANDHAR (RURAL) POLICE BUSTS INTERSTATE DRUG PEDDLING GANG WITH RECOVERY OF 1.82 QUINTAL OF POPPY HUSK

•    FOUR PEOPLE, INCLUDING TWO LADIES, ARRESTED WITH HUGE AMOUNT OF DRUG BROUGHT FROM J&K
•    ONE PERSON ARRESTED WITH 8000 TABLETS OF DRUGS
Jalandhar 9 July (Jaswinder Azad)- In a major breakthrough, the Jalandhar (Rural) Police today busted an intestate drug peddling gang by arresting its four members, including two ladies, and recovering one quintal and 82 kilograms of poppy husk being smuggled in the state from Jammu and Kashmir in a truck along with Rs 60,000 cash.
Divulging the details, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar (Rural) Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on a tip off the Police arrested Kuldeep Singh, Mangat Ram, Kuldeep Kaur and Paalo from Bhulath Mod at GT Road Bhogpur in trick number JK 02 AD 6015. He said that the truck was owned by Sahel of Anantnag (Srinagar) and Kuldeep Singh was working as driver or him. Mr. Bhullar said that used by Sahel and accused to smuggle drug into the state thereby minting huge amount of money from it.
The Senior Superintendent of Police said that while Kuldeep used to bring the drug into the state, the other accused used to act as advance party for him by escorting the truck in their private vehicles and signaling that the way was clear for movement of truck. He said that gang had brought the consignment of drugs into the state several times through Lakhanpur border. Mr. Bhullar said that already one FIR under NDPS Act was registered against Mangat and three under NDPS Act against Kuldeep.
The Senior Superintendent of Police said that the Police had booked eight persons in this case under section 15-29/61/85 of NDPS act out of which four have been arrested and four including Sunny, Raja, Sahel and other were absconding. Mr. Bhullar said that further raids in the case were being made to catch the other accused. He said that further investigation into the case was going on.
Likewise, the Senior Superintendent of Police also said that the Rural Police has also nabbed a person Surjeet Singh a resident of village Sherpur Taiba under Dharmkot Police station along with 8000 Tramadol tablets. He said that the accused had a tainted past as three cases have been registered against him under various sections of IPC and NDPS Act. On the occasion, Superintendent of Police Mr. Balkar Singh and Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Balwinder Iqbal Singh Kahlon and Mr. Dilbagh Singh were also present.
