Jalandhar 8 June (Jaswinder Azad)- The students of Mass Communication and Video Production department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya visited Avtar Community Radio FM 90.4 at village Seechewal under the guidance of Principal Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen. The students met Station Director Mr. Kulwinder Singh and gathered information about community radio. Mr. Kulwinder Singh told students that Avtar Radio is the first community radio established in the rural area by and for the rural people. Avtar Radio is being run not by professional radio jockeys but by the students. It is a 24 hour radio. This is being run under the aegis of Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal.
The students interacted with Ms. Shama Aggarwal and Mr. Pannu and gathered information about the working of the community radio and the type of programmes being broadcast by the radio. Students also did audio recordings of the radio staff members and saw the set up of the radio. In audio recordings, the students were guided by Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur, Director, Shamsheer Communications Pvt. Ltd. She helped the students in making scripts and in recordings.
In the last phase of the visit, the students visited Nirmal Kutiya at Sultanpur and got a chance to meet Sant Balbir Singh Ji Seechewal. The students had an interaction with him and his interview was also recorded. While interacting with students, he said that it is everyone’s responsibility to keep the environment clean and healthy. Everyone should plant at least one tree on birthday and other special occasions. Sant Seechewal ji also gifted plants to the students from his nursery. The students felt encouraged and motivated after meeting him and promised him to contribute in making the environment clean and green. The students were accompanied by Mrs. Rama Sharma, Head of Mass Communication department and Ms. Chetandeep Kaur.
