Corruption, conspiracy and incompetence behind college shutdowns-SADD

New Delhi, Aug 3 (Bureau)- A lethal cocktail of corruption, incompetence and conspiracy caused the shutdown of iconic Sikh institutions in the national capital, Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi (SADD) President Paramjit Singh Sarna said today. S. Sarna squarely blamed the Badals and their loyalists governing the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) for the court-ordered closure of the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology at Rajouri Garden and the Guru Tegh Bahadur Polytechnic Institute at Vasant Vihar.
"The Sikh academia is passing through its darkest hour under the watch of the Badals and their DSGMC administration. The Badals and the DSGMC led by Manjit Singh GK have shrunk the institutional power of our community because of their incompetence and by design," the SADD leader told a news conference here. He accused GK of splurging religious funds on political propaganda of his bosses in Chandigarh.
"Revenues from gurdwaras and Sikh institutions have been appallingly abused to promote the Badals. All resources were diverted to one family. That's one of the reasons behind the fall of our top educational establishments," S. Sarna said. He also slammed the DSGMC for the appointment of a series of small-time thugs as the chair of the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology.
"Look at the quality and credentials of people who were handed over the charge of the institute at Rajouri Garden. Look at their track record. Small-time thugs were given the the power to run premier academic organizations. Why?" S. Sarna asked. He insisted that the Badals had been able to siphon off institutional resources with the aide of those thugs. "All this was sanctioned by GK, who deliberately presented a weak case for our institutes in the court of law," the SADD president remarked.
"GK has on purpose failed to act timely and swiftly to offset the  lease cancellation of the institute. He then, by design, ensured the Sikhs lose the legal battle," the SADD president said. Nowhere else in the Sikh history a Sikh administration ever placed the future of thousands community students at stake as the DSGMC managed by Badals' supporters has, S. Sarna said. He referred to the steep decline in educational standards of GHP schools under GK's management. Earlier, half-a-dozen GHP schools were placed under one pool, which S. Sarna alleged was a dirty ploy to launder their finances and render them sick. The SADD president, who has appointed a high-level committee of Sikh academics to study the BJP government's new education policy, feared that Badal supporters were attempting to saffornize Sikh ideology and destroy Sikh educational structure to please their Sangh allies.
"It's a dangerous conspiracy to weaken the Sikhs," S. Sarna warned. "Instead of keeping their guard up over the BJP's Sanghikaran of education, the Badals have offered our prestigious educational institutions to their allies on the platter. Two of our key establishments stand shut today. The others may meet the same fate if the community doesn't act in time," S. Sarna cautioned. He vowed to launch a concerted movement to save Sikh educational establishments from extinction. "We will rope in intellectuals and experts from various fields in our effort to protect our educational heritage. We also promise that we will not let the Badals and GK go scot-free. They will have to face prosecution for their criminal and corrupt acts," S. Sarna said.
