- Punjab Government organises 3rd seminar for commemorating 125th birth anniversary of Baba Sahib
- Urges media to play constructive role for welfare of downtrodden
- Punjab to set up statue of Baba Sahib in Vidhan Sabha
Phagwara /Jalandhar, September 7 (Jaswinder Azad)- To commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar by the Punjab Government , 3rd Seminar was organised on “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Media” in which the Governor of Himachal Pradesh Mr. Acharya Devrat advocates the liberty , equality and fraternity with an aim for social justice to implement the vision and ideology of Baba Sahib in true spirit and manner.
Addressing the large gathering of students and eminent scholars alongwith Union Minister of state Mr. Vijay Sampla, Speaker of Punjab Assembly Dr. Charnjit Singh Atwal and Cabinet Minister Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal, he said that Dr. Ambedkar has firmly pitched for freedom of press while drafting the constitution of India by including “Freedom of speech and Expression” as fundamental rights.
Calling to wipe out the casteism as per the vision of Baba Sahib to ensure upliftment of weaker sections, Mr. Acharya said that Dr. Ambedkar was not only a politician but also an eminent jurist and his efforts to eradicate social evils like untouchability was remarkable.
Taking part in the discussion the Speaker of Punjab Assembly, Dr. Charanjit Singh Atwal informed that Punjab Government has decided to set up the sculpture of Baba Sahib in Punjab Vidhan Sabha besides dedicating a complete session in Vidhan Sabha to discuss the Baba Sahibs Philosophy, its implementation in modern day society. He said that “keeping in view the importance of media to spread the awareness among masses, Dr. Ambedkar has launched news papers namely Prabhusatta, Janta, Samta and Mooknaik etc. Earlier Union Minister of state Mr. Vijay Sampla has said that for to erase the inequality in society, the education must be provided to all without any discrimination. He also said that Union Government would organise a state level function to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Baba Sahib with cooperation of Punjab Government. Tourism Minister of Punjab Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal, MLA Pawan Kumar Tinnu, MLA Sarwan Singh Phillaur, MLA Som Parkash have also addressed the audience.
Chairman SC Commission Punjab and Chief Patron of Punjab Government Committee for the Commemoration of 125th birth anniversary of Baba Sahib, Mr. Rajesh Bagha has informed that 6 seminars would be organised in Universities to spread the ideology of Baba Sahib especially to young generations.
A technical session was also organised to aware the people about the different aspects of Baba Sahib ideology, in which Dr. B.A. Chopade VC Dr. Baba Sahib Ambedkar University Marathwara,Philospher Dr. Dilip Mundal Writer Dr. Manmohan Singh, Mrs Munisha Pandey Editor India today, Mr. Puran Mahram Registrar Nagpur University.
