RIPJIT BRAR SLAMS RAJA WARRING FOR ANTI DALIT STATEMENT

Jalandhar 24 September (Bureau)- Ripjit Singh Brar, former MLA from Kotkapura and senior functionary of Pehlan Punjab Lok Hit Abhiyan has condemned the anti-Dalit statement of IYC president Raja Warring, where the latter said the reservation system should be scrapped in the favour of a new system based on economic criteria. Brar said “Almost 40% of Punjab’s population comes from the oppressed Dalit and backward sections of society and they have suffered the most during the last 10 years of Akali misrule – these poor people have no economic benefits from the government and now to even think of taking away their only support in the form of reservations is unthinkable”. He questioned the advise of Congress’s election strategist and commented “The BJP got a drubbing in Bihar because of a similar remark by the Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, and now the highly praised and overpaid Prashant Kishore is giving this advise to the Congress leadership – Warring claims to be a member of Rahul Gandhi’s special brigade – Is this the advise and thinking of the Congress or has Warring been instructed by Captain to make these statements to help Badals indirectly?”
Brar who has been spearheading Lok Hit Abhiyan’s efforts in Malwa said “Lok Hit Abhiyan and AAP recognize the problems of Dalits and Backward sections of society and we are committed to making every effort to provide this neglected section of society with its due representation and rights. We will oppose any such move tooth and nail”. He asked the Congress to clarify its stand on the matter and said “In normal course a statement by Warring doesn’t even merit consideration but when he speaks as the IYC President on reservation before elections we should ask if this is the official Congress line or is their IYC president just blabbering as usual?”
