Envisioning a New Level of Transformative Education for Modern India
Jalandhar 25 December (Jaswinder Azad)- Keynote Address on “Empowering Education - Transforming India” was organised by International Chamber for Service Industry (ICSI) on Saturday, 24th December 2016 at ITFT, Chandigarh, by Prof Satinder Dhiman, President ICSI, who is an Eminent Scholar, Author, Educator, Accreditation Evaluator, Wellbeing Consultant, Administrator in the field of Education & Leadership. Various representatives of Education fraternity and scholars were present for the interface. He talked about the power of Empowering Education System that can lead to Transformation in India. During the interaction the agenda was to understand the concept of quality and need-based education, policy framework to align it with Global Human Resource Development Strategies with Indian stories and epics related examples. Teachers stand at the nourishing  roots of an education system. To become a world-leader (Vishva-Guru), India needs to re-empower its Educators and Education system. One of the ways to harness creativity and quality in education is clear research agenda with accountability standards should be enforced immediately. To succeed, the policy framework and teachers have to work in tandem with each other. We have to go a step ahead in  Skill Development initiatives, beyond Employment & Entrepreneurship to Life Management Skills.  It should be supplemented with development of higher level competencies to highlight excellence in education.
He also discussed the seven education related principles from one of his books titled “7 Habits of Highly Fulfilled People” and presented a signed copy of the same to all present. Ms Sanchita Lal, Director- Research and Development, ICSI, New Delhi while laying the ground for the discussion on the occasion said there is a need to re-empower teachers with its changing roles as facilitator, counsellor, mentor and guide. Besides academics, vocational education through innovation is to play a pivotal role, where the teachers and students are empowered with need-based soft skills integrated with the Life Management Skills.
