Jalandhar 22 December (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Heritage Institution, Jalandhar excursions as a methodology of teaching (an age-old practice) are an integral part of the academic practices. Recently the PG Department of Economics organized an educational trip for around 46 students accompanied by four teachers to Centre for Excellence for Vegetables, Kartarpur which has undertaken an Indo Israel Project. The purpose of the project is to device and discover new technology in the cultivation of vegetables. The trip aimed at making students aware of the latest technological and scientific developments in the cultivation of vegetables. Project Officer, Daljit Singh Gill addressed the students regarding protective cultivation of crops and shared view techniques of agriculture. He explained at length the poly-house technique, mulching, soil-less cultivation etc.
Horticulture development officer Mr. Nikhil Ambish Mehta gave the students practical exposure to the poly-house technique by taking them for a round of the poly-house and demonstrated the new techniques developed. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Department for having organized such a fruitful excursion. She exhorted them to continue with such healthy educational practices in future also.
