Jalandhar 12 January (Jaswinder Azad)- As the entire nation is gearing up to celebrate the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanandaon January 12, National Youth Day was celebrated in the premises of Apeejay Imstitute of Management Technical Campus. Mr. Sunil Jyoti, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Jalandhar was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The other dignitaries included Sadhvi Sushri Garima Bharti Ji, Sadhvi Radhika Bharti Ji and Prof. Lakhbir Singh.
Mr. Sunil Jyoti, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Jalandhar expressed that such events help to rekindle the teachings and message of the great patriot and leader Swami Vivekanand. In the Rashtra Aaradhan Programme organised on this occasion, Sadhvi Sushri Garima Bharti Ji exhorted the students to come forward for nation building. She said that the students should vow to follow the footprints of great youth icon Swami Vivekanand. She expressed that Swmai Vivekanand believed in the immense power of youth in bringing a change in the society. His birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day with a view that the philosophy of Swamiji and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth.
The audience was mesmerized with soulful singing of patriotic songs. The students joined the chorus in singing songs of national glory and welfare. The audience also paid homage to the freedom fighters and great revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives in nation’s interest. The menace of drug abuse was also highlighted on the occasion. The students came up with thought- provoking posters bringing out the evil of drug menace confronting the society. Some games and activities were also conducted by the volunteers of the organisation to emphasise on the importance of following a healthy living style, healthy diet and regular exercise. There was a general round session as well where students had to identify the freedom fighters and revolutionaries who made efforts for India’s freedom struggle.
Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of the Institute expressed that students be made aware of Swami Vivekananda's lectures and writings so that they can derive their inspiration from Indian spiritual tradition and be proud of our rich cultural heritage and values.
