Seminar for Farmers at Khalsa College

Jalandhar 13 May (Jaswinder Azad)- Farmers today were informed of the most threatening weeds, in a special seminar held at Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar. In this seminar organised by the Biotechnology Department of the college  as many as 12.leading farmers from the region interacted with the rkey speaker Dr Arum Dev Sharma  Head of the College Biotechnology Department Dr Sharma informed the participants  on two main weeds- Lantana camara and gajar booti -that were posing a serious  threat to the yield of the wheat crop, bringing it down drastically, side by side decreasing the fertility of the soil. He suggested the methods and the ways of dealing with this threat effectively. Speaking on the occasion the College Principal Dr GS Samra said that  it was the need of the hour to tackle such challenges so that the increasing demand of foodgrains may be dealt with effectively.  He assured  the participants that the college will provide them all possible  support in managing the problem. Prof. Manjinder Singh Johal and Prof. Vijayeta Joshi was also present on this occasion.
