Jalandhar 8 June (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the heritage institution's, Jalandhar a free summer camp under the aegies of DDU Kaushal Kendra was organized from 1 June 2017 to 7 June, 2017. This first batch of cooking classes saw a huge response more than 150 students from around the city registered for the some cooking classes were taken by the Dept. of B.Voc (Nutrition, Exercise & Health) of Dept. of Home Science. Various delicious and nutritious recepies like Khandvi, Mango Phinni, Dhokhla etc. were hugely appreciated & practiced. The students response showed that it was an extremely enriching experience for them. The spoken English classes which were also held on the some dates witnessed a huge response from the surrounding areas. 150 students participated in the classes. It was a purely practical training which was activity based. Students were taught communication skills through role-play method, picture composition and situational teaching. The students could feel a palpable change in their communication methods & felt that they were more successful in communicating in English as compared to the before joining the class. During the same time period P.G. Dept. of Fashion Designing also taught volunteers to make craft items & free hand painting with different techniques. They made different articles like coasters, pen stand, masks, candle holders, wall murals, screen printing, block printing, table-mate, painted suits / sarees & bedsheets etc. It was overall an enriching experience which improved the life skills of many. It is note worthy that another batch of summer classes is going to begin from 8th June,2017 and will conclude on 14 June, 2017. These classes will be in diverse fields like beauty classes dance classes and I.T. classes. They will also be free of cost. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma congratulated the faculty and students for having used their summer break time productively.
