Jalandhar 14 July (Gurkirat Singh)- MSC Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and M.Com has successfully filled there vacant seats before the calculating time at DAV College, Jalandhar for the session july 2017-18. Applications are still being received under the waiting list. The chance to get admission in M.Sc math and computer science courses is still open for the students.
Students are more inclined towards science this year as compared to the last few years. The fact that B.Sc. Food Science and Technology seats got covered in the span of a week states the proof. Admission for various courses at DAV College first session 2017-18 are growing on a lightning fast speed. Principal Dr. S.K. Arora told that students are inclined towards science subjects. The seats for MSc physics, chemistry, zoology and M.Com are completely filled and the student that applied and in the waiting list will be informed by the means of communication. If any candidate selected besides to leave the seat and the procedure will be solely based on the merit list. The Vice Principal also informed that students are also enthusiastic about post graduate diploma like financial services and computer application. He also stated that the last year students of M.Com B.comand PGDFS found record placements in department of Banking, insurance and micro finance. M.Sc. in Zoology has received a highest number of applications this year, commenting on the fact the head of the department professor Karuna Mittal said that we used to live receive a lot of applications for the course but this year has been special for us. We have filled our seats on the basis of First Come First Serve for the seats and yet we are receiving applications under the waiting list. The number of admissions in MSC Physics and Chemistry has also grown as compared to past few years. The seats in both the courses have been filled in a very short time. Commenting on the fact Principal Dr. S.K. Arora stated that we have requested the university to increase the seats in our college so that we can provide courses to the students under the waiting list. The demand for admission in B.Sc. Food Science and Technology has been counted at a record high this year, celebrating the success the head of the department Prof. Bhartendaru Singla said that the seats for BFST got covered in the first week of the admission session of this year. He said we have a record number of placements under this course in the past few years and we producing quality students for the market. The food industry is growing in really fast rate, which is the reason that the demand for employment is also increasing. We have students coming here study in our college from all over the country as we have the best of staff, placement record and time value for practical training.
