Jalandhar 28 September (Jaswinder Azad)- PG department of Commerce, DAV College Jalandhar organised an Industrial visit to 'Sonalika International' and 'Pong Dam'. Under the stewardship of the college leader Dr. SK Arora, Vice Principal and HOD Prof. VK Sareen, President Commerce Forum Prof. Ekjot Kaur, Prof. Parul Shair, Prof. Sandeep Dua, Prof. Bhuwan Lamba, Prof. Nimisha. Around 50 students from Bachelor's and Masters of Commerce formed a part of this trip. The students firstly visited the Sonalika International which is located in Hoshiarpur. The industry is India's third largest tractor manufacturing industry. It is equipped with all kinds of sophisticated equipments and trained manpower for carrying out processes as per the International regulatory standards. They also showed presemtation regarding produnction procedures and growth rates of the company.
Later students were taken to Pong Dam located at Talwara, Himachal Pradesh where they were thrilledto observe the generation of electricity. The officials appointed over there mase students informed regarding all the technical process involved in the production of electricity.
Talking at the occasion Principal Dr. SK Arora quoted, 'Such industrial excursions add up to practical knowledge and exposutr of these young academicians. Mere bookish knowledge doesn't serve entire porpose. I hope this legacy will continue in future too.'
Vice Principal and HOD Prof. VK Sareen quoted, ' My aim has always been that our students become both practically and knowledgeably rich, and this industrial excursion will help them sharpen their practical skills because mere reading from books isn't enough for concept clarity but a rigorous shop floor experience is required for proper practical experience and exposure. I am sure that this industrial trip will benefit our students a lot'.
President Commerce Forum Prof Ekjot Kaur quoted, ' Industrial trips are a way of enhancing classroom learning by making real world connections. This trip gave students the opportunity to observe a particular environment that enables first hand experience of what they are learning. Also, these trips offer students and teachers the opportunity to interact outside the classroom, thus enhancing their bonding with each other and improving their social and life skills.'
