Gandhi ke sapnon ka Bharat organised at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 26 September (Gurkirat Singh)- Post Graduate Department of History, Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a function Gandhi ke sapnon ka Bharat written and directed by Dr. Suman Chopra to commemorate the birthday of the Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. Students depicted the ideology of Gandhi by making jhankis on the themes of Ahimsa, Sarvodya, Swadeshi, Unity and Equality and Swachh Bharat. Students made the sketches of Gandhi. Gandhi’s life had been presented in chronological order through collage work. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra presided over the function. In his address, he said that our society is suffering from so many ills and students have to play a proactive role to curb them. Gandhi successfully used the weapons of Ahinsa and Satyagraha to uproot the tentacles of British power. Education is a liberating force and we need to inculcate the basic principles of Gandhian philosophy in our curriculum. Students took the oath to emancipate the society from the corruption, violence, religious fundamentalism, dowry and ragging. Head of the Department Dr. Suman Chopra thanks the staff members and students for their participation. Department teachers Dr. Karanbir Singh, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Prof. Sandeep Kumar Bhagat, Prof. Sandeep Kaur were present in the programme. Bani Khurana and Rahul Kumar elegantly moderated the performances.
