Jalandhar 7 October (Jaswinder Azad)- Mayor World School has always been a trailblazer in propagating the culture of helping others. It has always initiated several programs to uplift the deprived sections of society as a part of its corporate social responsibility. Continuing with this tradition, 3rd to 7th October, 2017 was observed as the ‘Joy of Giving Week’. The students made generous donations during this week in terms of clothing, shoes, stationery items, newspapers, toiletries, gadgets and money. They were sensitized and encouraged to perform these acts of charity and be of great contribution to society. In this week the students realized that little contributions from their side could go a long way in the improvement of society. They also understood that they should value all that they have and not complain because there were so many people struggling to obtain even the basic necessities of life. The School also organized the Scholastic Book Fair, from 5th to 7th October, 2017, to encourage the students and boostt heir reading skills.
As a major part of this ‘Daan Utsav’ and in the effort to maximize the contribution to the society, the Management at Mayor World School organized a Blood Donation Camp on the 7th of October. It was arranged in association with Civil Hospital, Blood Bank, Jalandhar. Our honorable Vice Chairperson Mrs. Neerza Mayor and Principal Mr. J. S. Hundal were the first ones to donate blood. It was also the Parent teacher meeting day. All the teachers and parents participated with a festive fervor in the event. The School authorities appreciated and thanked the donors for this noble charity. Refreshments were given to all the donors. Around40units of blood were collected. Another effort to pay back to the society was made by the Mayorites who created Book marks, paper bags,etc. for sale to the parents and the accumulated amount will be donated to the N.G.O. ‘Spreading Smiles’.
The Principal encouraged and motivated the teachers and parents to participate enthusiastically in such noble acts of benevolence. He also mentioned that we should not hesitate in donating blood as our body systems have a natural mechanism to replenish blood. Mayor World School has set another benchmark with another successful completion of the’ Joy of giving Week’.
