Jalandhar 8 November (Jaswinder Azad)- Commenced on 7th November 2017 the five day program of INSPIRE was organized Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India. On the inaugural day the chief guest, Padamshre (Prof.) RNK Bamazai, Former, Vice Chancellor, JNU, New Delhi was welcomed by worthy Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra along with Dr. Arun Dev Sharma, Co-ordinator cum Head PG Department of Biotechnology. In this camp, more than 170 students participated from different reputed schools (Meritorious and Adarsh) of Punjab. The program began the floral welcome and token of honour to the Chief Guest, Padamshri Dr. (Prof.) RNK Bamazai. Dr. Bamezai gave a beautiful articulation on pursing science & Research as a career- Excitement of challenges. He justified his Aalk by Quating line and suitable examples.
He emphasized on different career opportunities available in research and how this field is non momentous, full of challenges, provides opportunities for innovation through which one can contribute one’s sit for the betterment of society. He encouraged students to adopt correct life style and dietary habits for existence. The students were extremely excited and a wonderful interaction the with the eminent resource person. This interaction was followed by practical sessions in various labs like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Computer Science and Mathematics where students were made familiar with engrossing experiments.
On the 2nd day of inspire Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the student and in his address he emphasiged that there are many carrier options available for students apart from doctor and engineer. Dr. Naveen Gupta from dept. of Microbiology, P.U., Chandigarh, delivered his lecture on topic ‘Emerging Area in Life Science Biotechnology & Microbiology. Introduced the students with various carrier options available in Microbiology and Biotechnology. He told in his lecture student can pursue pathology Lab, technician, fermentation, wine making diary products etc. He encouraged the students to pursue his carrier as Agribiotechnologist environmentalist and genetic engineering. Student enjoyed the lecture and heavily participated in discussion.
Second session on the second day lecture was delivered Dr. Narpinder Singh, Department of Food Tech, GNDU, Amritsar on topic ‘why we need to about junk food we love’. He defined the junk food and told that Samosa, Pigzza and Burger all are junk food. The junk food is without nutrition. The ingredient that used are from cosmetic and toothpaste. They have high sugar and salt content, that are harmful to health. It is main cause of obesity, diabetic and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, we should avoid junk food and eat institutions food.
