Jalandhar 13 November (Jaswinder Azad)- Recognition of an achievement is like an icing on a cake, but awarding the achievement is the cherry on the cake. Such kind of felicitation came in the ways of a city based achiever, Kunwer Rajeev, an Associate Professor in the department of physics at DAV College Jalandhar, who is an India Book of records holder in the field of memory, when his records in the field of memory were recognised as the top hundred records of the country in various fields and was felicitated at the glittering event organized at the Siri fort auditorium in New Delhi on nov.12, 2017.
The event was Indian records holders on world stage. It was a joint effort of Eight nations. Chief Editors of national record books of these countries that included India USA, UK, Nepal, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia gathered together at this event to recognize the achievements of records holders from ten countries spread over three continents. Professor Kunwer Rajeev was honoured with a medallion and a certificate. This is pertinent to note that professor Kunwar Rajeev is a renowned Memoriser and a memory trainer. He holds the following three records for India Book of Records in the field of memory.
1. Fastest recall of the precise atomic mass of all the elements of the Periodic table.
2. Fastest recall of the population of most countries in a minute.
3. Fastest recall of all countries and their capitals.
On being asked, why he chose the field of memory, he mentioned that being a teacher, his students always complained of not being able to remember. He researched in the field, and felt that any amount of data can be memorised by anyone. The ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Romans had this knowledge. He learnt these techniques, applied them on him and was able to achieve these record breaking abilities in just less than three years. His next aim is to get his name in Limca book of records as well as Guinness. Meanwhile he has shared some of his techniques with thousands of teachers and students in various seminars, lectures, live TV and radio shows. Principal S K Arora and staff members congratulated him on his success.
