- CT organises its 1st Media Fest titled ‘Fest-o-media’
- Chandigarh University bags Runners- Up Trophy
- More than 600 students from 20 institutes participate
Jalandhar 27 March (Jaswinder Azad)- The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, CT Institute of Higher Studies organized its first ever media festival titled ‘Fest-o-Media’ at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur campus. More than 600 students from 20 colleges and Universities participated in the fest. The Chief Guests for the event were ACP Deepika Singh, renowned media professional Mrs. Seema Soni and Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi, Co-Chairperson CT Group.
Giving students a different exposure, 15 events were organized like News Reading, Live Sanchaar (Radio Jockey), Factual Story, Ad Mad, Selfie Squad, Choreography, Walk The Talk etc. Students from different colleges and Universities like Chandigarh University, Chitkara University, Punjabi University, Patiala, GNDU Regional Campus, Ladewali, DAV College, Jalandhar, Doaba College and Lyallpur Khalsa College etc competed with each other. The Overall trophy went to DAV College Jalandhar whereas Chandigarh University bagged the Runners-Up Trophy.
The fest started with the lighting of lamp ceremony by Chairman CT Group, S. Charanjit S Channi, Managing Director Mr. Manbir Singh, Vice Chairman Mr. Harpreet Singh and Principal CTIHS, Dr. Seema Arora, Mr. Vishal Gotra, Assistant Professor. The welcome address was delivered by Campus Director Dr. GS Kalra.
For all the events, different judges who have good professional experience adjudged the events. The list of jury for various events included the names of Mr. Raman Meer, Ms. Rachna Khaira, RJ Rajan Kashyap, RJ Himanshu Wadhwa, Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Mrs. Navjot Kaur, Mr. Paramjit Rangpuri, Mr. Birinder Chopra, Ms. Ranjana Thakur and Ms. Divya Vassan etc.
After the tough competition between the participants, the judges announced the results of various events. The first and second prizes of News Reading were bagged by Government Mahindra College, Patiala and GNDU Regional Campus, Ladewali respectively. The first and second prizes for Ad Mad show went to DAV College Jalandhar and Chandigarh University. Whereas, under the Choreography event, the first and second prizes went to DAV College, Jalandhar and CT University.
Doaba College bagged the first prize for Walk The Talk and Punjabi University bagged second prize. Chandigarh University won the first trophy for Nukkad Natak whereas Lyallpur Khalsa College bagged the second prize.
Mr. Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group said, “This is a very good initiative taken by the department of Journalism. This is the real exposure that every media student should experience. This will surely boost the morale of students while competing with each other and testing their hidden skills too.”
Chairman CT Group, S. Charanjit S Channi applauded the efforts taken by the department in organizing this wonderful event for the first time and congratulated all the winners and participants for taking part and winning multiple prizes.
