Jalandhar 2 June (Jaswinder Azad)- Annual Awards Day of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya was organized on 2nd June, 2018. Esteemed Sh. Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs, Archives and Museums, Govt. of Punjab was the Chief Guest and revered Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, Director Colleges, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour. The other dignitaries on the dais were Justice Sh. N.K. Sud (Retd.), Vice President, DAVCMC and Chairman Local Committee, Sh. Arvind Ghai, Secretary, DAVCMC. Among others present on the occasion were Sh. Avtar Henry, MLA, Sh. Shital Vij, Sh. Harsimranjit Bunty, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Mohinder Singh Gullu, Sh. Onkar Rajeev Councillor, Members Local Committee Sh. Ashok Paruthi, Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Sh. S.N. Mayor, Dr. Pawan Gupta, Principal Sanjeev Sood, Principal M.L. Aeri, Sh. Ashok Sareen, Principal Anoop Kumar and elite of the town
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the guests and presented the Annual Report of the institution focusing on the remarkable highlights and achievements of the institution. The prize winners were duly honoured for their achievements. 92 students were given Gold Medals, 30 were awarded Silver Medals and 15 students were given Bronze Medals. A total number of 242 students were honoured with prizes for their academic and co-curricular achievements. A special cash prize of Rs.5000/- was awarded to Dilpreet, an IT student for developing a website on NCC Office Management System under the guidance of Miss Sonia Mahendru. A warm welcome was awarded to the chief guest by Justice N.K.Sud (Retd.) and Dr.Satish Kumar Sharma.
Sh. Navjot Singh Sidhu congratulated the Principal for the achievements of the institution and firmly held that it is very difficult to sustain excellence for a very long time. He enthralled the audience with his words of wisdom and inspired them by sharing many valuable anecdotes from his past. He emphasized on the need of self confidence as fear is a dark room in which negatives are developed. One should never compromise with moral values. Nothing but breath, sweat, toil and tears will take us forward. He also quoted from Tagore and promised never to betray the people of Punjab. He announced a sum of Rs.20.00 Lakhs for the college.
A cultural programme was also presented on the occasion. As a gesture of inspiration to the Bhangra team Sh. S.N. Mayor set aside a sum of Rs.2100/- and Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu a sum of Rs.2500/- for them. After the prize distribution, the Cricket Academy was inaugurated with his pious hands. The vote of thanks was given by Sh. Arvind Ghai. Stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia and Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda.
