Jalandhar 28 July (Jaswinder Azad)- ‘Dream, Create and Serve’ the words marked the occasion of 87th Convocation of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya on 28th July, 2018. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the Guest of Eminence Justice N.K. Sud, Vice President, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, Guest of Honour Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, Director Colleges, DAVCMC and Sh. Arvind Ghai, Secretary, DAV CMC and representative of Local Committee with green greetings. Also in attendance were the dignitaries from the Local Committee Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Sh. S.N. Mayor, Sh. Ashok Paruthi, Sh. Shital Vij, Dr. Pawan Gupta, Principal M.L. Aeri, Principal Roshan Lal Arora, Sh. Ramesh Sharma, Distt. President, BJP, Smt. and Sh. A.L. Dhawan, Dr. Anoop Kumar, Sh. Ashok Sareen and Principals of different institutions.
The Convocation began with an invocation to the Almighty by traditional lighting of lamp and recital of DAV Anthem. A total number of 840 students with 673 graduates and 167 postgraduates received their degrees. The students took an oath to keep up the values of unity and integrity.
In her report, Principal Dr. Sareen highlighted the achievements of the institution which has a number of awards and firsts to its credit. She felt elated to announce the recent status of Kaushal Kendra given to the college with a grant of Rs.5.00 Crores. She spotlighted the ‘go green’ mission of the institution and various innovations introduced under the mission.
Justice (Retd.)N.K. Sud blessed and congratulated the students saying that hard work is the only key to success. Quoting a Chinese proverb he said that to enjoy the thrill of downhill ride, one must firt toil hard to go uphill.
Extolling the efforts of HMV Dr. Satish K. Sharma remarked that ‘Nothing is Impossible has become possible at HMV’. He asked the students to receive blessings of their grandparents which help them to face the challenges of life. They have entered a new phase of life and their grooming at HMV will enable them to be successful in all walks of life. He emphasized the fact that girls are performing better than their counterparts in all walks of life.
His Excellency Hon’ble Governor Sh. Kaptan Singh Solanki conveyed his blessings in absentia as he could not be present because of the bad weather. In his message he appreciated the DAV organization which is successfully running more than 800 institutions. Calling it an amalgam of East and West, he said that it provides a complete package of success to the students. Women are the bases of the progress of the nation so they need to tap their potential to the fullest. He asked the students to carry forward the legacy of our rich culture and values handed over by our ancestors.
The students enjoyed the thumping beats of the folk song. The Sarpanchs of five villages adopted under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan were honoured by the Principal and the guests. Principal Dr. Sareen presented souvenirs to Justice (Retd.) N.K. Sud and Dr. Satish K. Sharma.
Sh. Arvind Ghai gave a vote of thanks and urged the students to spread smiles wherever they go and be successful in their lives. The convener of the function was Dean Academics Dr. Kanwaldeep. The stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr. Ekta Khosla and Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda.
