MISSION TANDARUST PUNJAB- ANTI-LARVA TEAMS DETECT LARVA IN 20 PLACES

DESERT COOLERS AND TYRES FAVOURED PLACES FOR MOSQUITOES TO BREED
Jalandhar 16 July (Jaswinder Azad)- The desert coolers and tyres are apparently best-suited breeding places for mosquitoes as out of 20 larva cases detected by anti-larva teams during an ongoing drive against vector-borne diseases on Monday under mission Tandarust Punjab, 13 cases were reported in desert coolers and six in tyres. The teams led by Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Mr. Rajan Kumar, Mr. Raj Kumar, Mr. Gurwinder Singh, Mr. Kamaldeep Singh and Mr. Gurinder Singh and others undertook to check in Chadha market, Sabji Mandi, Ravidass Chowk, Butta Mandi and Madhuban Colony visited 225 houses, checked 63 air coolers and containers. The team detected dengue larva in 20 places including 13 in air coolers, six in tyres and one in the pot. During the inspection, the team also interacted with the people during which they apprised them that these places could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria, and others and asked them to drain them regularly. An official spokesperson said that this drive is part of the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission to check the spread of vector-borne diseases well in advance. He said that the health department is firmly dedicated to ensuring good health of the residents.
