FOOD SAFETY VAN TESTS 32 FOOD SAMPLES, ONE FOUND SUB-STANDARD

Jalandhar 16 July (Jaswinder Azad)- Under its campaign to ensure availability of safe food to the citizen under mission Tandarust Punjab, the hi-tech food testing van of the health department tested 32 food samples in Model Town, Guru Amar Dass Nagar and Bhargo Camp localities on Monday. The team led by Food Safety Officer Mrs Divya Bhagat and others today collected samples of food items including Milk, Desi Ghee, Curd, Cheese, Red Chilli Powder and gram flour. During the testing in the van, minor adulteration was detected in gram flour. Food Safety Officer Mrs Divya Bhagat said that the main motive of sample testing is to ensure that the citizen get good quality of hygienic food besides checking its adulteration. She said that this hi-tech van is capable of detecting adulteration of food on the spot, which can help the people in checking the quality of food being consumed by them. She further said the sampling of food through this van would continue in coming days to ensure that people of the district only consume healthy food. On the occasion, Analyst Sarbjeet Singh, Hardev Singh, Anil Kumar, Raj Kumar and Avtar Singh were present.
