• WOMAN, HER SON AND HUSBAND WERE INDULGED IN DRUG TRAFFICKING
Jalandhar 5 July (Jaswinder Azad)- Intensifying its stir against the drug peddlers in the district, the Jalandhar (Rural) Police today arrested a woman with 400 grams of heroin and a cash worth Rs 8 lakh.
Divulging the details, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Rural Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the woman identified as Kamaljit Kaur was arrested with 400 grams of heroin and Rs 8 lakh cash from a village near Bhogpur, when she had gone there to hand over consignment to somebody. He said that the Police had got a tip off that Kamaljit and her son Gurmukh from Ganna village were indulged in drug trafficking and were supplying huge quantity of drugs in the area. Mr. Bhullar said that Kamaljhit, her son Gurmukh and even his husband Karnail were a part of a notorious drug racket which was supplying the drug in the area despite of the fact that Police had already registered cases against Gurmukh and Karnail.
Subsequently, the Senior Superintendent of Police said that acting on a secret information Police today arrested Kamaljit near Bhogpur. Mr. Bhullar said that during investigation Kamaljit had admitted that she and her son Gurmukh were indulged in this trade since long and had earned the recovered cash from the drug trade. He said that son of the woman was absconding but Police was raiding at several places to catch him.
The Senior Superintendent of Police further said that a case has already been registered against Gurmukh under the NDPS act at Nurmahal. Likewise, he said that Karnail Singh, the husband of Kamaljit Kaur, was also booked by Nurmahal Police after 65 kilogram of poppy husk was recovered from him. Mr. Bhullar said that further investigation into the case was already going on and more revelations were expected in the coming days.
