Senior Citizen Day celebrated at HMV

Jalandhar 19 August (Jaswinder Azad)- The Holistic Development Cell of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya became the proud host in the celebrations of Senior Citizen Day under the proficient direction of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, organized by an NGO Trust Udaan Zindagi Ki in collaboration with 92.7 Big FM.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen extended a cordial welcome to the guests and urged the youngsters to revere the elderly people and receive their blessings.  She added that they need to be given a feeling of belongingness and the youth will reap what they sow.  The youth need to understand their responsibilities and each day should be celebrated as a senior citizens day in its true spirit.  Principal Dr. Sareen was honoured by the Udaan Zindagi Ki Trust.
The event was organized by Sh. Pankaj Mehta, Chairman Udaan Zindagi Ki Trust and Principal Sh. Surinder Mahajan.  Mrs. Jasbir Sangar graced the function as the chief guest.  The event began with the recital of DAV Anthem and lighting of lamp.  Lt. Gen. J.S. Dhillon, Lt.Col. Manmohan Singh, Ms. Prabhjot Kaur, Sh. R.P. Mahajan, Sh. Kuldeep Gupta, Ms. Harsh Gupta and Mrs. Neeru Jairath were present as special guests.  Sh. M.L. Sharma enthralled the audience with his euphonious song.  Every foot tapped to the thumping beats of the spectacular performance by dance factory.  The senior citizens performed a ramp walk and enjoyed to their hearts.  The event witnessed a special performance by music virtuoso Master Saleem.  A play depicting the problem of old people was also staged.
On this occasion, Mrs. Kuljit Kaur Athwal, Dean Holistic Development Cell was present along with other staff members.  The stage was conducted by MJ Sandy and MJ Mannat.  The people from old age home were honoured and presented with gifts.  The actors of Friends Theatre Group and Dance Factory were honoured by Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen and members of the trust.
