Punjab state SC commission takes suo-motto notice to the injustice done to sc student enrolled for doctorate

Chandigarh 18 June (Jaswinder Azad)- The Punjab state Commission for Scheduled Castes today took a strong notice to the injustice done to a scheduled caste student in the department of Hindi in the Punjabi University Patiala. In a statement issued here today Mr. Rajesh Bagha Chairman of the Commission said that it was unfortunate and unpardonable that a student who was enrolled for Phd. in the department of Hindi forced to discontinue the doctorate because he belonged to a deprived and underprivileged community.  Taking suo-motto notice of the reports the commission has directed the Registrar, Punjabi University to investigate the matter and submit the report within 30 days.
Mr. Bagha sought a detailed report from the Registrar of Punjabi University within 30 days. Giving details, Mr. Bagha said that Ravi Kumar of Gidderbaha completed his MA and MPhil and also passed Junior Research Fellowship of UGC. He was enrolled for pursuing his doctorate as per the UGC rules and guidelines under Dr. Ravi Dutt of Hindi department, who had agreed to be his guide.  Later Ravi Kumar was forced to discontinue with his Phd, by his guide Dr. Ravi Dutt when latter came to know about his being connected to a scheduled caste family.
Mr. Bagha reiterated that the Commission was fully committed to safeguard the interests of the underprivileged and downtrodden sections of the society and assured that no injustice would be allowed against them. The guilty would be punished after having a detailed report in this case, said Mr. Bagha.
