Phagwara 5 November (Jaswinder Azad)- The Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal announced that in the event of SAD-BJP government coming to power again, alvillages of the state would be equipped with the solar lights besides sewerage facilities and concretization of the streets at a cost of Rs. 35000 crore. The Punjab government has effected path breaking initiatives leading to record progress in the state in every sector during past 9 years with many development projects currently going on war footing. The views were expressed by the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal while inaugurating a cancer check up and eye camp at village Nangal Majjha in Phagwara constituency.
The Deputy Chief Minister further said that the SAD-BJP government has been responsible for making Punjab power surplus besides leaving a legacy of excellent road infrastructure. He also said that a majority of the population in doaba region lives abroad and Adampur airport would be operationalized shortly to cater to their needs. Reiterating his firm stand on SYL canal issue, S. Badal said that not even a single drop of water would allowed to go outside the state and for this purpose Shiromani Akali Dal is ready for any sacrifice.
Appreciating the NRI diaspora for contributing a great deal in transforming the doaba region, S. Badal said that NRI community has also been of immense assistance in the development of the villages which clearly signifies that they are still firmly connected with their ancestral roots and share a deep personal bond with their villages. The Deputy Chief Minister also underlined the fact that more Punjabis are living abroad than the whole population of Punjab and they have carved out a special place for themselves by the dint of their hard work and dedication.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced a grant worth Rs. 40 lakh for the overall development of village Nangal Majjha. He announced Rs. 15 lakh for laying concrete tiles in the village, Rs. 10 lakh for the construction of a stadium, Rs. 5 lakh for installing solar lights, Rs. 1.50 lakh for 2 dharamshalas in the village besides announcing grant of adequate amount for installing lights and transformers in the football ground of the village.
On the occasion, MLA Som Parkash welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister and thanked him for developmental grants to the village. Among others present on the occasion included Chairman Markfed Punjab Jarnail Singh Wahid, NRI Harminder Singh Gill, Deputy Commissioner Jaskiran Singh, SSP Rajinder Singh and prominent SAD-BJP leaders.
