CM TO DEDICATE JANG-E-AZADI MEMORIAL TO THE NATION ON SUNDAY

First phase of project completed in record time of 18 months
Jalandhar 5 November (Jaswinder Azad)- With an aim to showcase the enormous contribution of Punjabis in national freedom struggle, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal would dedicate the first phase of Jang-e-Azaadi memorial at 11 am on Sunday at kartarpur. Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Punjab government said that the memorial which was result of sheer hard work done by the Jang-e-Azaadi foundation under the able leadership of Chief Editor of Ajit group of Newspapers Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard would play a pivotal role in connecting the people especially the youngsters with the glorious chapters of history. Completed within a record span of 18 months the memorial was a humble tribute to the great national heroes who sacrificed their lives during the national freedom struggle adding that it was on record that more than 80% people who were either exiled or martyred during the freedom struggle hailed from Punjab.
The renowned historians and experts conceptualized this memorial after which the concept committee of the memorial under the leadership of Chief Minister visited visited Cellular Jail at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar islands, Sabarmati Ashram at Ahmadabad, famous Akshardham Temple at Gandhinagar in Gujarat, ‘Teen Murti Bhawan’ and the hi-tech museum showcasing significant aspects related to the National freedom struggle in Parliament house at New Delhi for seeking vital inputs and information for the finalization of the concept and design of this state of the art memorial. Eminent architect Mr. Raj Rawail has prepared the design of this world class memorial in such a manner to make it a perfect blend of grandeur, aesthetics and architecture. 
The memorial would house an iconic building which would apprise the people about the supreme sacrifices made by the martyrs. Besides an entrance the monument would have a Shaheedi Minar, Special Exhibition galleries, galleries dedicated to various watershed freedom movements in state, open air theatre with sitting capacity of 1000, MFi theatre for 500 people, auditorium with sitting capacity of 250, seminar hall for 150 persons and a film theatre for 100. The monument would also have a library, souvenir shop and a cafeteria.
A film produced and directed by noted film director and screenwriter Mr. Shyam Benegal highlighting the enormous contribution of Punjabis in the national freedom struggle, would also be screened in the memorial besides a laser show.
