Zambians celebrate I-Day at CT Shahpur

Students celebrate this day by singing their country songs & National Anthem
Jalandhar 24 October (Jaswinder Azad)- Freedom is only tenable in an atmosphere of peace. No country can truly be free without unity and harmony. Cherishing the long victory since 1964, the students from Zambia commemorated the auspicious occasion of their 53rd Independence Day at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur campus. More than hundred students, including 50 Zambians, and rest from Nepal, Bhutan and other African students carried out a March Past in the campus, recalling and saluting the selfless efforts of the freedom fighters.
Expressing his contentment over the occasion, Francis Malama, Vice President of Zambian Student Association of Punjab and a student of B.Tech sixth semester at CT Shahpur campus said, “The struggle for independence was founded and won on account of unity of purpose. Our country is a blend of 73 tribes with different religions and political persuasions. Despite our diversity, we are all Zambians. We share a common heritage and a common destiny. We need to stand against anything and everything that attempts to divide us. We are one people.”
Another student Benjamin Mwale, a student of B.Sc Economics fifth semester shared, “Well, today we all here are very happy that our institute has allowed us to commemorate this occasion. Living here too, we never felt apart from our homeland and are enjoying every bit of our stay.”
Sharing his good wishes, Chairman, CT Group of Institutions, S. Charanjit S Channi said, “I extend my warm greetings and felicitations to the people of Zambia on the occasion of their Independence Day. We’re glad that the students from Zambia studying here in our campus have celebrated this lucky day. India and Zambia are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure mutual benefits related to trade and economy. Hence, we are delighted to have these students on our campus and we wish them for their overall development.”  The students from Zambia carried out the March Past by singing songs of their country and ended by singing their nation’s National Anthem titled Stand and Sing of Zambia, Proud and Free.
