In the convocation of DAV College, 833 students secured the degree. 6 professors of the college were honored on receiving their research and PhD degree
Jalandhar 3 March (Jaswinder Azad)- The College's annual convocation was organized at the Auditorium of DAV College, in which the Chief Guest Dr. Sudhir Mishra, Director General (BrahMos) DRDO Chief Guest and Dr. Satish Sharma (Director Colleges DAV CMC, New Delhi) as Guest of Honour were warmly welcomed by the local committee's president, Retired Justice N. K. Sud, former president Shri Kundan Lal Agarwal, Mr. Arvind Ghai from Local Management, Former Director Colleges Dr. M.L. Aeri, Principal, Dr. S. K. Arora, Vice Principal Prof Vijay Sarin,Vice Principal Prof. T.D. Saini, Registrar Prof. Arun Mehra, local advisory committee members Prof Kamaldeep, Dr Manu Sood, Staff Secretary Prof. Sharad Manocha, Joint Staff Secretary Prof. Amit Sharma, Dean Examination Prof Salil Uppal, Public Relations Officer Prof. Manish Khanna, and Other Staff Members.
At the convocation, 833 students and students were given degrees, out of which 350 had commerce graduates and post graduates. Chief guest Dr. Sudhir Mishra was welcomed very warmly in the college premises ,after it Dr. Mishra was welcomed at the principal office where he wrote his best wishes on the Visitors Register. After it he was welcomed in the college auditorium , where the teachers and academicians welcomed him with a standing applause.
The event started with the Saraswati vandana and Lamp lighting ceremony followed by the beautiful floral welcome of Chief guest Dr. Mishra, Director CMC Dr. Satish Kumar by Principal Dr. Arora, Justice N K Sood, Chairman of the Local Management Committee, and other present distinguished persons
On this occasion, Principal Dr. S. K. Arora welcomes all the dignitaries who came here. He said that it is a matter of great fortune for us to find Dr. Sudhir Mishra as the Chief Guest of this convocation ceremony. Describing Dr. Sudhir Mishra, he said that Dr. Mishra is a reputed scientific and Director General (BrahMos) DRDO, Ministry of Defense and CEO and MD is a graduate of BrahMos Aerospace, Indo-Russian Joint Venture, Government Engineering, Jabalpur College, as well as he is an MBA in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras. He has also earned a PhD from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal. In search of India to achieve excellence in missile technologies Has contributed immensely. As a result of their technical expertise and contribution, many DRDO missile programs have been acquired. Under his leadership and guidance, a successful flight of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft was tested, making India the first country to achieve a unique potential from this historic achievement. He has been awarded 'DRDO Scientist of the Year' and many other awards by the Prime Minister of India.
DAV College Jalandhar Principal Dr. S K Arora voiced," It is a matter of pleasure to have these venerated dignitaries with us. As far as DAV College is concerned, it has been NAAC re accredited, and have a family of 7200 students and faculty of 500 teachers. No merit list is complete without DAV College.DAV College holds a golden history of giving sports personalities to the nation. Till date, it has given 18 Olympians , 8 Arjuna awardees, 2 dronacharya awardees and thousands of other distinguished Indians.Heavenly Sh. Jagjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Diljaan,Narinder Pandit, Hana raj Hans are some of exemplary artists who are proud products of DAV College.
Dr Sudhir Mishra at the commencement of his convocation address quoted " At the outset , I feel privileged to deliver the convocation address at the-Convocation of DAV College, Jalandhar". At this occasion chief guest Dr Mishra quoted " Let me begin by extending my heatiest congratulations and good wishes to all the young graduates, who have by dint of their hard work, earned degrees, medals and prizes. Dear friends, it is day of celebration for you and your teachers who have played a key role in your education. Please remember that your success today follows years of patience, support and love of your parents and families and the dedication and commitment of your faculty. They too participate in your success and glory and deservedly feel elated at your achievement.
He added, DAV College jalandhar traces its roots to the legacy that has been reforming and redefining India's educational scenario for 100 years when the college was first established in 1918. As one of the amongst 780 educational institutions under DAV Managing Committee,New Delhi, this college has grown into a " Leading Academic Centre" of this region, in the last 100 years. Guided by the zeal and visionary approach of its founding fathers, the college is in fact consistently evilving , impriving ,improving and updating itself to face the challenges of a swiftly changing world environment. It believes in adjusting the existing educational systems into a system that is universal and holistic.
Further he quoted, I have been told that the list of alumni of this college is illustrious and glorified. The renowned Ghazal Maestro Jagjit Singh, noted Bollywood singer Sulhwinder Singh, famous Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans, Sharat Sabharwal, former Indian ambassador to Pakistan, former Vice Chancellors of Guru Nanak Dev University. About education, he said, Education is the backbone of a sustainable economy. Education is highly correlated to economic productivity, technological advancement, higher income, alleviation of property, and most significantly, the elevation of equality and quality of life in general. We all have to understand the crucial role of higher education in upgrading the capabilities of individuals and institutions, which are vital to national development and modernization.
Dr. Mishra prompted the students to take a higher flight in the future. Referring to an incident, he said that in his lifetime, he was very inspired by the former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He told that he had met him for the first time in 1984. He told that when he asked me to make a missile for the first time, I could only say to him that he is not able to make the missile right now. In response to this, he said that those people can not create anything that they know everything they can not make. Giving examples of this, he said that determination to make any work successful is very important. Unless you have the determination power you will not be able to do anything. He said that Dr. Kalam learned something new every moment, every hour, every time, something new. He said that there was a magic in his talk, there was a fire which always inspires us.
Finally, while concluding his convocation address from Shahrukh Khan's film "Om Shanti Om" dialogue "kisi cheez ko puri shiddat se paaney ki koshish kro, to puri kaynat use tumse milane me lag jati hai" to make the students the key to their life. He said that we should keep our craving for our goals. Only then can that goal be found. He said, I would like to say that innovative India of the future must be compassionate. Once again my sincerest congratulations to all the students having received their degrees awards today and all the best wishes for your alma mater to attain greater heights".
Guest of Honour Dr. Satish Sharma addressing the students he said," Do not consider this as a ticket to your new life, this is a ticket given by university to challenge the social evils residing in our society to be depleted by the power of the youth. You must cherish and live your dreams and dreams of your country."
College Registrar Prof. Arun Mehra requested principal to start formal convocation proceedings. The program was started with Principal Dr. Arora's words "I declare the convocation open" . After this, Chief guest Dr. Sudhir Mishra, Principal Dr. Arora distributed degrees to all the students. During this period, 6 Professors of the College, Dr. Renu Gupta, Dr. S. K. Tuli, Dr. Nischay Behl, Dr. Lalit Goyal, Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Rajiv Puri were also honoured for their research and PhD degree.
During the ceremony, Kesham sang Ghazal "Yeh kaun aa gai Dilruba Mahki Mehki" and made the atmosphere musical. During this time, stage was compared by Prof Sharad Manocha and vote of thanks was given by Prof SS Randhawa. The ceremony was concluded with the National Anthem.
During this period, special invitees, College Alumni A K Gupta, Principal Ravinder Sharma, Mr. S. P. Sahdev, Principal Manoj Arora , Principal C.L. Kochhar, Mr. Ajay Goswami, Principal Ajay Sarin, Principal Navjot Kaur, Principal Dr. AL Sangal, Principal Raj Kumar Sehgal and the entire college staff were also present in this ceremony.
