One-day workshop on IT education for girls organised by Computer Science Department of DAV College, Jalandhar

Jalandhar 4 March (Gurkirat Singh)- Computer Science Department of DAV College organized one-day workshop on 'Imparting IT Education to Girls' to promote computer and information technology in girls and its careful use. In this workshop students of different departments of DAV College participated. Speaker of the workshop was Professor Nitin Bhatia of Computer Science Department. They gave information about the careful use of social networking sites to girl students. He told how hacking can be avoided on social sites. Girls should use passphrase instead of password. We must keep changing passwords from time to time. Apart from this, he also gave information about the ways and benefits of using NetBanking, Online Shopping, UPI and Bheem App to girls. The second speaker of this workshop Professor Lekha Jindal of Computer Science Department said that girls now require to do online shopping, NetBanking and have information about various app. In today's world of hustle and bustle, women have to work equally. During the household work, women can purchase things online. Therefore, girls must learn all this. Apart from this, she provided important information to make effective slides through PowerPoint presentation. President of IT Forum Prof Monica Chopra emphasizing the contribution of computers in women's empowerment, said that without computer, knowledge is incomplete and women's knowledge of computer is essential for women's empowerment. She called computer as an essential demand in contemporary world. Knowledge of computer can enhance employment opportunities for women. Dr. Nischaya Behl HOD of Computer Science Department appreciated the work of Prof. Lekha Jindal and Prof. Nitin Bhatia. He said that girls should be given equal opportunities. This workshop will prove very useful in this regard. With the use of computer, girls can have an ease in doing their daily works. The department will continue to do such workshops for women empowerment in the future. Principal Dr. S. K. Arora said that it is very important for the girls to know the knowledge of computer and its related precautions. Along with the development of information technology, crime against girls has also increased. These crimes are due to lack of knowledge about the use of this information technology. They need to know about their uses and precautions. It is a matter of happiness that DAV college takes this problem seriously, and the task of computer science department is commendable to overcome this lack of knowledge. Teaching and non-teaching members of the Computer Department were also present in this workshop.
