Jalandhar 23 March (Gurkirat Singh)- Jubilance and ecstasy intoxicated the premises of Apeejay with the inaugural ceremony of Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav’18, a confluence of celebrated Artists and Performers which is dedicated to the first lady of Apeejay Satya Group Smt. Rajeshwari Paul and also marks the Golden Jubilee of Apeejay Education Society. The mega event brought nationally and internationally acclaimed artists and performers from diverse areas of performing and visual arts under one roof to give a sensory treat for the art enthusiasts and lovers of the region. On this historical occasion, Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma, staff members and students of the college extended a cordial welcome to Madam Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Education Society, Co-Promoter & President, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Co-Founder & Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, Mr. Vijay Berlia, General Secretary, Apeejay Education Society, Mr. Aditya Berlia, Joint Secretary, Apeejay Education Society, Ms. Neha Berlia and Mr. Diwan Manna, President Punjab Lalit Kala Academy Chandigarh and other dignitaries. Principal Dr. Sucharita referred Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia as beacon of inspiration not only for Apeejayites but also for the youngsters of the nation as she had many awards in her credit like recently received Prestigious and Pioneering, INWENA Award, NRI Institute for being in Association with JMS Foundation for being Women Persona of the Decade for her Contribution to Education and Industry. Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia expressed her elation at this momentous occasion and said that Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav was dedicated to her mother who loved literature and art from the core of her heart and Apeejay would now on celebrate this as an annual feature in the coming years. Day 1 commenced with ‘Girl Gaze’ an Indo-UK Photography Exhibition which is a collaborative venture of Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi and Creative Black Country, UK which would capture contemporary photographic stories and audio visual presentations by the eminent artists from across the globe like Jocely Allen, Jennifer Pattison, Andrea Fernandez and Uzma Mohsin. Iona Fergusson would be the curator of this exhibition. The enterprise also unleashed ‘Creativity on Campus, the Artists Camp’, bringing alive the creations of renowned artists on Canvas through an array of colours. Mr. Ashok Tiwary (New Delhi), Dr. Baldev Gambhir (Amritsar), Dr. Ranviranjan (Kurukshetra), Mr. Madan lal (Chandigarh), Dr. Jaspal Singh (Hoshiarpur), Mr. Bheem Malhotra (Chandigarh) would paint their imaginations in the brightest colours on the canvas. The evening witnessed the humour and Comic punches in Hasya Kavya Prastuti by the versatile and renowned author and poet of comic verses, Padam Shri Dr. Sunil Jogi, Minister of state in the Government of UP, Mr. Gaurav Sharma and Ms. Ritu Goel. The day concluded with the most awaited event of the year, Lavanya, The Designers Show, which features the creations of budding designers and models of the college and opens the vistas of opportunity for the aspiring designers and Models. The design show included 14 rounds of diverse cultures like Gond Mahotsav in which hand paint and embroidery, Applique and Reverse Applique work and machine Embroidery depicted the early life of Koiture People, Sequin Season presented Flowy Silhouettes with scattering of sequin on the white Foundation, third round i.e. Boulevared Beat presented Graffiti Art, Dhruv Pattra exhibited the dresses from Leaves and Macrame Knots. Old Age round showcased the love and affection with Anti-Fit Garments on Indian Textile and Western Silhouettes. Another Round Sheesh Mahal presented the form of Mosaic using Mirror embroidery, Seventh Round Laskaari showcased the bling of Zodiac, Marine Life, an amalgation of Cut-dana, sequin, threads, beads in an abstract form of coral blues, Round Nine Vida Marina Postate ALYAKAT presented the dramatic body-con Dresses with structured collars and sleeves with Layers and pleats, CHECK-IT-OUT Round and Fracas Fibril Round were based on Menswear and textures of knitted fabrics respectively. Round 12, Salvage Swag presented the designs based on deconstruction with the playful accessories like hats, Belts, Caps, Boots etc. An extra-ordinary round named Turbans and warriors depicted the styles of Nihangs and a special Round with the physically Challenged models walking on Ramp Rang-E-Malang presented garments which are easy to wear & Colorful with ombre effects. Mr. Gagun Bedi, renowned Choreographer, Ms. Neha Mahajan, Celebrity Designer and Makeup Artist and Ms. Puneet Kaur acted as judges for Lavanya 2018. Commencing of Rjeshwari Kala Mahotsav; A Mega Event left a mark of exuberance on Jalandharites with the everlasting memories of Apeejay’s designer Show Lavanya, Photography Exhibition, Hasya Ras Kavita and Painting on the Canvass.
