KMV Pays Nostalgic tribute to Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh

Jalandhar 23 March (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar the Martydom Day of Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh was a mixture of pride and sweet remembrances from the historic past of the institution. All gathered in the morning under the national flag to celebrate this day of national pride and indominatable spirit of service to the nation. The tribute began with address of Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi who was presented a tri-colour by the staff as a recognition of her family's contribution to cause of the nation. Speaking on the occasion she said that everytime she thought of the sacrifices of the magnitude of Bhagat Singh, Rajgure and Sukhdev, she was indeed humbled. She exhorted one and all to idolize the shaheed like Bhagat Singh to internalize and carry forward the message of Bhagat Singh as the only true tribute to the national hero. She asked all students to contribute to national social causes in order to  make the nation strong. She reminded them of the power of a 23 year old Punjabi youth who sacrifices his life willingly and shook the very foundation of the strong imperialistic British Empire where the sun never supposed to set. The faculty and the students along with all the prominent guests pledged to flight a war for a Drug Free Punjab and aid the Punjab govt. in all its endeavours for the cause. An article written by President Arya Shiksha Mandal, Sh. Chander Mohan ji was also circulated to motivate the students. The article talks about memories of Sh. Varinder ji, father of Sh. Chander Mohan and erstwhile President of K.M.V. Managing Committee who was fortunate to be in the same Jail as Bhagat Singh when he was martyred. It recalls the pride with which this son of the soil told the Magistrate, Mr. Magistrate  you are fortunate to be able today to see how Indian Revolutionaries can embrace death with pleasure for the sake of supreme ideal. To make the occasion more memorable Head Department of English Mrs. Seema Jain read out a self composed patriotic poem and Mrs. Poonam Sharma from the Department of Music sang a self composed song on Bhagat Singh. Prominent guests on the occasion included Ms. Penny Sandhu an almameter (1985-86) owner of Jass Punjabi Broadcasting Channel, Mr. Deepak Bali from Punjabi Jagriti Manch was also present to grace the occasion. The air ripe with nationalistic farvour and all KMVites proudly recalled how Shaheed Bhagat Singh used to be sheltered in KMV Hostel to make his revolutionary endeavors.
