Jalandhar 26 March (Gurkirat Singh)- Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav’18 at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar exhibited the Excellency of Art and Culture in three day venture. On the third day of this mega mela, at one platform Indo-UK Photography Exhibition and three day Art Camp left a spectacular influence in the hearts of art lovers and on the other platform Samudra group from Kerala broght a touch of emotions in the eyes of audience with their heart-rendering performance of 'JALAM'with an amalgam of Creative Dance and Theatrical Act. Mr. Diwan Manna, President, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh ilumined the occasion as the Chief Guest. Samudra is the flagship creative dance group in Kerala and it has performed at prestigious art houses like Royal Opera House, London and TeatoRomano, Italy to name a few alongwith that the group has President's National Award to its credit. Choreographers and Directors of Jalam, Madhu Gopinath and Vakom Sanjeev threw light upon the fact that Jalam word had originated in Sanskrit which means Water and the journey of nature’s enormous and wonderful gift is depicted in their performance through which they have shown the selfishness of man who has polluted water for his selfish motives. The personification of water on stage explored the layers of its psychological impact as how water might be feeling at the meanness of man; the pure water rhythmically responds to the call of humans but its agitation finds an expression in the form of tsunami or other disastrous calamities. The performance truly caught the glimpses of inner feelings of water and its tragedy. The performance was executed by the brilliant actors and dancers; Madhu Gopinath, Vakom Sajeev, Aneesh Soman. Jai Kumar, Rahul, Deepa, Sandhya Chitra and Soparnika while Jose Koshy marvellously handled Light Design and Execution, Madhu Gopinath and Vakom Sajeev were Directors and Concept Designers. Music was produced by Kalamandlam Anand, S Dasan, Kavalam Sanjeev and Ishaan Dev while Rajeev handled Photography and Video. Principal Dr. Sucharita expressed her gratitude to the Chief Guest and Samudra Group who shared the ocean of knowledge with Jalandharites and ignited aestheticism in the hearts of youngsters. She said Art was the only medium that could enhance the perceptive skills of any individual. She further said that Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav proved to be a feast to the eyes of art lovers and had truly shown the various aspects of art and culture in this venture.
