Campaign on Earth Day led by Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 15 April (Gurkirat Singh)- Lyallpur Khalsa College has led a campaign on Earth Day to secure a future free from plastic pollution. Social Sensitization Club of the college held competitions to end plastic pollution. More than 50 students from various departments of the college participated enthusiastically in the competitions. The students used organic materials and bring forth innovative idea. The judges for the competitions, Prof Navdeep Kaur(Head of Economics Department), Dr Balraj Kaur, Prof Ratnakar Mann applauded the efforts put in by the students. Prof Amita Shahid (convenor), Dr Jaswinder Kaur, Dr Patwant Kaur, Dr Ubique, Dr Manmeet Sodhi were also present during the occasion. The Principal of the college, Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra appreciated the creative minds of the students and advised them to further the cause of environmental issues by sensitising people around them. He encouraged students to eliminate the use of plastic and plant more trees to make sustainable communities. The winners of Making Paper Bag competition were: Amisha, Tajinder Sidhu, Bandana Sidhu, Neetu Yadhav and Harinder Kaur. The winners in Reuse of Plastic Material Competiton were Parneet Kaur, Amisha and Jatinder Saroj. The club also honoured their office bearers on the occasion with trophies and certificates.
