DC REVIEWS ARRANGEMENTS FOR MEGA EVENT
Jalandhar 9 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that around 2500 students from the various Educational institutions of the district would participate in the function to mark Independence Day this year at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium.
Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for the mega event here at District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that these students from the various Educational institutions of the city would perform in various events like PT, March past and other cultural items showcasing the rich socio-cultural heritage of the state. He said that the rehearsals were already being done by the students in the stadium to fine tune their performances for the mega event. Mr. Sharma further said that the full dress rehearsal for the event would be held on August 13, in which all the officers of the district administration would also take part.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the district administration would uphold the glorious legacy of present an impressing march past during the function. He said that the contingents of paramilitary forces, Punjab Police, Home Guards, NCC, Scouts and Guides would participate during the parade to commemorate Independence Day function this year. Mr. Sharma also asked the Health department to deploy medical teams during the Independence Day celebration to provide quick assistance to the participants, in case of any emergency.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that elaborate arrangements would be made for providing the facility of potable drinking water to the participants and students during this mega event. He said that Police Department would keep a strict vigil for providing the security during the event.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Gurmeet Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Paramveer Singh, Additional Chief Administrator JDA Mr Darbara Singh, Executive Magistrate Mr Jai Inder Singh, DIstrict Revenue Officer Mr Jashanjeet Singh, Revenue Officers Mr KS Bhullar, Mr Aditya Gupta and Mr Gurpreet Singh, Lieutenant Colonel ( Retd) Manmohan Singh, DIstrict Mandi Officer Mr Varinder Khera, DIstrict Food and Supply Officer Mr Neelkanth Sharma and others.
