Jalandhar 13 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Students at Lyallpur Khalsa College highlighted the significance of national unity and integrity through an Essay Writing Competition organized to celebrate the 69th Independence Day of the country. In this event organized by the Department of Hindi, students expressed their views through their essays on the theme ‘Role of Youth in Nation Development’. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra presided over this brief yet impressive function and stressed on the role that youngsters play in the development and prosperity of a country like India. He advised the students to resist the menace of communalism and to spread awareness against it. Prof Dr. Bhawna Arora, Department of Hindi, informed that Anand Mohan (BSc NM) was given Ist prize, IInd prize went to Saurav (BA), while Tanvir Kaur (BCA) and Shobhit Ranjan (BA) shared the 3rd prize. Prizes were given by College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr. Bhawna Arora, Department of Hindi while encouraging the students to continue such efforts in the future. The event also witnessed the participation of large number of students and staff members.
